Year 1 Vegetable Garden Success

17/10/2013
Our Year 1 students have had an outstanding success with their vegetable garden. Under the guidance of our adopted gardening expert Mr Sam Sardi, they have developed a vegetable garden which is the envy of many.

Parts of the garden are in their second rotation and harvests have been bountiful. The garden has produced buckets of beans and capsicums, kilo upon kilo of tomatoes, endless lettuces and other greens, dozens of corn cobs and sunflower plants like we have never seen (some are approaching 3-4 metres in height).

The students have taken some of the produce home but some of it has been used at school to treat the Year 1 students to quiches and a range of salads. The garden was part of a Health unit being studied with a focus on eating healthy foods.
